Designer Guillermo Jop was born into the fashion industry. Jop’s family owns and operates a successful textile manufacturing business in Guatemala where he is from. At the young age of 17, Jop left his roots in Latin America and moved to Florence, Italy where he attended Polimoda to receive a BA in Fashion Design. He studied Innovative Pattern Making at the prominent Central Saint Martins School in London to gain the groundwork for his big dreams of becoming a designer.
Working in New York and Europe for prestigious labels Donna Karan, Un Stile Per Giocare, Zac Posen and La Perla – Jop developed an expertise in fashion design and pattern design. He decided to “take the plunge” and venture off to develop his own collection.
Guillermo Jop began creating couture gowns made to measure exclusively for the Latin American. Specializing in eveningwear; Jop’s designs incorporate draping and innovative pattern cutting. He immediately gained recognition and won awards including the Mercedes Benz and Vogue Regional Latin American & Central American Fashion Award in 2005 and Best Central American Young Designer in 2007. Receiving an incredible response from the Latin American market, Jop began making a full collection and stepping away from exclusive couture design.
